Pottery Classes from Selections
We are delighted to be able to run three Selections Pottery classes a week; on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The Selections Pottery Courses run over three terms; for details of term dates, how to enrol and prices please scroll to the foot of the page.
Taught by Teresa Morton who works with us as outreach from Courtyard Arts in Hertford, the Selections Pottery Courses are informal and friendly. A great opportunity to work with clay for beginners and experienced students alike.
Teresa is an established artist and teacher who brings a belief in exploration and individual creativity to all her classes. She aims to create an environment where her knowledge and encouragement will nurture students as they explore the possibilities offered by working in clay.
Beginners will explore techniques including pinch pots, coiling and slabbing while using different clays, slips and glazes to enable them to begin hand building. Throwing is taught at a one to one level with a different student each week after the hand building stage has been accomplished - it is a lot harder than it looks!
Experienced ceramicists will be taught new techniques throughout the term according to their need with the focus on support for individual projects.
You will need basic tools and an apron; details can be supplied after enrolment with your joining instructions.
Selections Pottery Courses 2025 - 2026
Pottery Courses will run on Monday and Tuesday evenings; there is one course on Monday evening running from 19.00 to 21.00 in Room C3 in the Technology Block. On Tuesday evenings there is an Early Course from 17.00 - 19.00 and the LATE Course from 19.15 - 21.15.
In all cases the maximum number of students on the Selections Pottery Courses is 12 people per course.
Each course costs £13.00 per person per week (inclusive of materials and firing). We apologise for the need to raise the price of the course by £1 per week from 2024/25 prices; this is the first increase in several years.
The Pottery Courses are in high demand - please enquire about spaces to avoid disappointment (contact details below). Once you know that you have secured a place on the course, an enrolment form can be found by clicking on the link for the appropriate course: Monday Pottery, Tuesday Early Pottery, Tuesday Late Pottery.
