Ofsted 2025
Ofsted has now published it's Report, following the inspection of The Sele School that took place on 7 and 8 May 2025. As parents and carers may be aware, Ofsted no longer makes an overall effectiveness judgement in inspections but instead reports on their findings with regard to five key areas of school life. We are delighted to have received a finding of GOOD in every area:
Quality of education: Good
Behaviour and attitudes: Good
Personal development: Good
Leadership and management: Good
Sixth form provision: Good

The Headteacher said: 'We are delighted to share our Ofsted report with you; we are rated Good across all four areas: Quality of Teaching, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management. We are extremely proud of our staff and students achieving this improvement in the space of 30 months. Onwards and upwards!'
Ofsted 2022
Ofsted has completed the report of their inspection of the school, which took place on the 18th and 19th October 2022.
We are delighted that inspectors have recognised that students at Sele feel “happy and safe” and that we are an “inclusive, welcoming school” where “negative attitudes, such as hurtful language, discrimination or bullying are not tolerated” and “are dealt with effectively by staff.”

We are extremely proud of the many key strengths of our school highlighted in the report, including:
- “Pupils’ positive behaviour choices” and the “consistent and fair” way in which the Behaviour Policy is applied.
- Our Sixth Form Students, who “act as good role models for younger pupils.”
- Our personal, social, health and economic (PHSE) curriculum where pupils “access a range of topics that promote their personal development” and which supports them to “make the right choices about their next steps in education, employment or training.”
Ofsted acknowledge that the changes over the past two years demonstrate that “leaders are on the right track to improve the curriculum” and that “where the curriculum is most effectively delivered, subject leaders and teachers know the plans well.”
We will continue to improve the quality of education within the school through:
- Investing in additional professional development for teachers and middle leaders to ensure that the curriculum is delivered consistently well across the school.
- Providing additional guidance and structure to teachers on how they can enable all pupils to positively engage with learning materials, including our weakest readers and pupils with SEND.
- Implementing the Trustees’ programme of curriculum monitoring to hold leaders to account and support them in improving the quality of provision over time.
We appreciate the continued support of Parents, Carers and the wider school community as we work towards building a stronger, community-focused school where every child matters and every child succeeds.
