No Year 12 Intake for the 2025 to 2026 Academic Year

Due to a smaller than expected Year 12 intake for the 2025 to 2026 academic year, we have taken the responsible decision to concentrate our Post 16 provision on supporting current Year 13 students. This enables us to continue delivering a high-quality Sixth Form experience at a crucial point in their education, while also allowing us to strengthen teaching and support across Key Stages 3 and 4. Our aim is always to provide the best possible outcomes for all our students, and this approach ensures we can do so in a sustainable and effective way.

Q: Why is Sele not taking any Year 12's for 2025/26?

A: The expected number of Year 12 students for next year was significantly lower than in previous years. Rather than offering a diluted experience, we made the educationally responsible choice to focus on maintaining high standards for our existing Year 13 students.

Q: Will you be reopening to Year 12 students the following year?
A: We are currently reviewing our Post 16 provision and will update the community once a decision is made. Our aim is always to serve our students and families with high-quality educational opportunities.

All schools, including The Sele School, must work within the resources available to us. While funding is always a consideration, the main factor in our decision to pause intake of Year 12 students for the 2025 - 2026 academic year was ensuring that we maintain the high-quality experience for our Post-16 students. Running a full Post-16 programme for a very small cohort would not have allowed us to deliver the breadth and quality of experience that our students deserve. Focusing our resources on Year 13 and Key stages 3 and 4 next year will enable us to maintain the high standards our students and their families expect from the school.
