Access to The Sele School for people with disabilities

The Sele School is not fully accessible to persons with impaired mobility, as some classrooms are on upper floors and we do not have a lift. However the ground floor is fully accessible with level entrance into the school at Reception. Some ground floor entrances have a step, but a ramp can be made available if required.

There is also a reserved parking space for drivers displaying a Blue Badge, adjacent to a dropped kerb access point. If you are visiting The Sele School and are concerned that you may encounter difficulty or require assistance as a result of disability please do not hesitate to contact us prior to your visit.

Signing-in

During the school day only people who are attending a pre-booked meeting can have vehicle  access to the site. To enter the school site, please buzz at the vehicle gate or at the pedestrian gate, as appropriate and staff on Reception will open the gate remotely.

Once on site, please make your way to our Main Reception, which is clearly signposted from the car park. To enter Reception press the intercom button (to the left of the entrance door); our Reception Team cannot release the door unless you do so.

You will be asked to sign into the Visitors Book where you must also provide vehicle details if appropriate. If you are on site during the school day you will be issued with a 'Visitor' badge, which you are required to wear at all times.

Please note that The Sele School Child Protection Policy and other policies relevant to safeguarding are followed at all times and apply to Visitors as well as to all other members of the school community. If you wish to check the detail of any of our policies please follow the link: Policies

If you are attending an organised evening or weekend event on site run by one of the many groups and clubs based at The Sele School, you do not need to go to Reception on arrival. Reception is closed out of hours and the leader, coach or tutor for your group or organisation is responsible for keeping a record of attendees at their event(s).

Signing-out

If you have visited the school during the working day please ensure that you sign-out before leaving the site; call at our Main Reception and let the Reception Team know that you are leaving.

Parking

We have ample on-site parking but would ask visitors to please park carefully and with consideration for others. Please ensure sure that you do not park in the ambulance bay, reserved bays or in the disabled parking bay unless displaying a valid blue badge.

Please take great care when driving within the school site; the car parking areas are used by students and teachers as routes between areas of the school and the rear car park is also used as a play area by students during breaks.

Idling

Please note that if visiting The Sele School by car you are politely requested to switch of your engine when stationary. The Sele School operates an anti-idling policy and signs to this effect are displayed at the two vehicle entrances to the school.

We thank you for your cooperation with this request, which will help to improve air quality on site and within the vicinity of the school.

Parking Restrictions

Due to concerns for student safety there is usually no vehicle access to the site during the school day, although visitors can request (at the main gate) that Reception allows them to use the car park. We apologise for any inconvenience but are sure that you will appreciate that the safety of our students has to be our first concern.

Dogs

We regret that dogs are not permitted anywhere on The Sele School site at any time. This prohibition does not apply to registered assistance dogs.

Smoking

The Sele School is an entirely smoking free site. Smoking is strictly prohibited in all of the school buildings and throughout the grounds; the prohibition of smoking includes electronic smoking devices of all types.
